The opportunity
The Regulatory Analyst is crucial in developing regulatory models to forecast revenue, comprising essential building blocks, demand forecasting, and pricing strategies. They conduct complex analyses and provide expert advice on various aspects of economic regulation, including key regulatory parameters, demand dynamics, capital investments, and tariff structures. Their contributions are vital for informed decision-making and effective regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the regular reporting of GWW's performance data and contribute to the creation of documents for management, the Board, and stakeholders, focusing on strategic commitments, regulatory obligations, and operational performance.
- Collaboratively assist GWW's regulatory reporting and data analytics by gathering requirements and conducting data analysis, mapping, and reporting.
- Under supervision and guidance, prepare key data inputs and models for regulatory submissions, such as pricing and tariff analysis, expenditure data analysis and New Customer Contributions.
- Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to prepare forecasts and models and incorporate projects like integrated water cycle initiatives while representing GWW in relevant external committees and working groups.
- Support the annual retail prices update and maintain pricing policies and procedures to ensure prices are calculated according to regulatory principles and are applied accurately.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in economics, finance, engineering, or quantitative discipline.
- Experience in a regulated entity (water or other regulated industry)
- Experience with analysis of large data sets
- Understanding of financial reporting and metrics is desirable
- Demonstrated experience in forecasting and trend analysis
- Understanding of the regulatory framework under which we operate.
