At Cairns Regional Council, we are all about providing cutting-edge solutions and improvements in water and wastewater treatment. We are now looking for a talented and motivated Process Engineer to help optimise and innovate our wastewater processes and enhance our approach to environmental protection and sustainable water management. You will also provide technical support to large capital projects to ensure the Cairns waterways continue to be kept in pristine condition.

Cairns Regional Council has the capacity to transport and treat over 177 MILLION litres of wastewater each day. This role ensures our region’s wastewater is treated using advanced technology and ready to be safely reintroduced into our magnificent environment today and every day into the future. 

Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • Experience in process improvement and optimisation of water and wastewater treatment or other industrial systems 
  • Project management and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise in water and wastewater transport, and storage processes
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Commitment to environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance
