About the Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Principal Water Resources Engineer to join our dynamic Water Resources team in Sydney. As a part of KBR, you will be at the forefront of significant multidisciplinary projects, working with a diverse network of clients, stakeholders, and skilled professionals. Our team’s holistic approach to engineering solutions integrates the expertise of ecologists, water resources engineers, and civil engineers. This role will allow you to shape the technical direction of projects, identify and mitigate risks, and drive innovative solutions for wetland projects from concept to detailed design and construction.

Collaborating with a national team of Water Resources practitioners, you will have access to a broad range of projects across various industries. You will also have opportunities to take on roles in project management and business development.

Who You Are:

You have a proven track record in water resources projects within an engineering consulting environment. Your expertise in applying Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) principles to stormwater management projects is a key strength. As a seasoned technical professional, you are ready to contribute your extensive knowledge and experience at a principal level within a consulting environment. You also have experience in bid preparation, project management, and general management, and you enjoy mentoring junior engineers.

Skills and Experience:

  1. A bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field is required.
  2. Proficient in using software such as MUSIC or other stormwater quality modeling tools.
  3. Strong experience with GIS applications like QGIS, ArcGIS, and MapInfo.
  4. Expertise in WSUD projects, including designing stormwater treatment systems, waterway corridor rehabilitation, and stormwater harvesting and reuse.
  5. Solid background in hydrological and hydraulic modeling, including experience with RORB and TUFLOW.
  6. Additional skills such as proficiency in CAD applications and Python coding are beneficial.

Who We Are:

KBR’s Water Resources team has over 30 years demonstrated expertise in flooding and drainage, water supply and management, catchment management, environmental sustainability, and climate change adaptation in Australia and internationally. We have considerable experience in the application of lot to catchment scale hydrology models and one- and two-dimensional hydraulic models to assist with the planning, design, and management of major infrastructure. Our team works closely with other groups within the company to achieve an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to water resources projects. We have a proven job management system and accountability through robust quality assurance plans.
