About the Position

The Mechanical Designer will work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to assist in the design, delivery, and after-sales support of Pyrocal’s commercial offerings. The purpose of this role is to formulate 3D models and detailed design drawings for Pyrocal’s continuous carbonisation equipment, as well as various other assorted mechanical equipment.

Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer you will work alongside a collaborative team of highly skilled engineers and trades to provide exceptional service and optimal results. External engagement may be required with relevant industry bodies including local council representatives, environmental authorities, customers, suppliers, investors and other stakeholders as required.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Produce detailed 3D models from concept sketches developed by the team
• Produce layout drawings and concept models for clients
• Produce detailed fabrication drawings suitable for manufacturing
• Produce DXF’s and flat patterns suitable to be sent for profile cutting
• Work with the engineering team to optimise existing designs
• Perform basic mechanical design calculations, under the supervision of the Senior Mechanical Engineer
• Participate in design review meetings

The role is based at Wellcamp, some domestic and international travel may be required to assist with plant design, installation and commissioning.

Knowledge, Skills and Attributes

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design/manufacturing/fabrication environment
• Sound knowledge of mechanical drafting practices
• Proficient in 3D modelling and drafting using Autodesk Inventor
• Skilled in Microsoft Office products Word and Excel
• Current “C” class Australian Drivers Licence
