About the role

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is interested in working in IPART’s Water Regulation and Compliance Team. This role would suit someone with previous experience working in the water industry in a technical or regulatory capacity.

You would be involved in the regulation of private and public water utilities across NSW. The successful candidate will work as part of a team to:

  • assess the suitability of new entrants seeking to provide water and wastewater services under the Water Industry Competition Act (WIC Act)
  • assess the merits of new schemes to provide water and wastewater services across NSW under the WIC Act.
  • prepare licences and scheme approvals under the WIC Act
  • oversee audits and attend site visits to ensure compliance with licence obligations
  • provide advice on regulation and compliance matters.

You will also have opportunities to work across the broader team on a diverse range of projects including implementation of new legislation and development of internal water regulation policies.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • is an engineer, scientist, technical specialist or regulatory specialist with a water/wastewater treatment background.
  • is adept at problem solving and has proven time management skills
  • is able to provide the Tribunal with written and verbal technical advice in a non-technical manner.
  • has experience in the water industry or in a regulatory compliance role and able to demonstrate a sound understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, and relevant technical guidelines such as the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Australian Guidelines for Water Recycling.

The salary range for the position is $105,583 to $114,168 per annum + superannuation and annual leave loading.
