Sequana is a vibrant and growing project management consultancy providing strategic advisory and management services to water and energy clients for their major infrastructure. With offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, we work with both private sector and government organisations to deliver and manage vital infrastructure projects for national and international communities.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, as the Director, Infrastructure Advisory at Sequana, you will lead a dynamic team of professionals in providing strategic direction and expertise for large-scale infrastructure projects. This role requires a seasoned leader with a deep understanding of infrastructure development, project management, and the ability to cultivate strong client relationships. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic vision of the Infrastructure Advisory practice and driving the success of projects from inception to completion.
We are flexible with the candidate's work location within Australia.
What you do
Commercial Advisory Services:
- Working as part of our national team advising public sector clients on high profile, complex infrastructure projects and long-term service arrangements and leading the commercial advisory services.
- Helping government and the private sector evaluate how they fund and deliver infrastructure that supports their strategy across a range of sectors including water, renewable energy, decarbonisation, and environment.
- Leading the development of quantitative and qualitative analysis to support infrastructure investment decision-making through the preparation of business cases and feasibility studies.
- Providing financial and commercial advice to drive value for money outcomes through procurement, supporting government with market engagement, bid evaluation and negotiation.
Contract Negotiation and Management:
- Lead contract negotiations with our clients, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Review and assess contractual agreements to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
Financial Management:
- Oversee financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and revenue maximisation.
- Analyse financial data to provide accurate and timely insights for decision-making.
Stakeholder Management:
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure effective communication and coordination across projects.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess commercial risks associated with projects and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
- Implement robust risk management processes and controls.
Team Development:
- Develop, and guide the commercial team and foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the commercial.
- Support the professional development of team members through training, coaching, and performance feedback.
Commercial Strategy and Leadership:
- Develop and implement commercial strategies aligned with our ambitious goals and objectives.
- Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the commercial team, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration.
Who you are
Candidates should possess:
- Tertiary qualifications or similar relevant qualifications.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial management within the infrastructure, construction, or related industries, with a minimum of 10+ years industry experience.
- Proven experience and knowledge of the Water and/or Energy Sectors.
- Strong experience in multi-disciplinary project management.
- Strongly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Sound understanding of integrated management systems encompassing quality, safety, and environmental aspects.
- Strong budgeting skills to manage time effectively and competing priorities.
- Ability to perform under time pressure whilst providing high-quality outcomes in every aspect of work.
- A consultancy and/or public sector background is preferred.
- High level of business and personal ethics.
