Whitsunday Regional Council is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Engineer Water and Sewer Network Operations to ensure the optimal functioning and safety of Council’s water and sewerage network operations. They will also serve as a key contact for Engineering expertise and support for the broader organisation regarding matters related to the regions water and sewer network.


The ideal candidate will be motivated by a busy role that provides ample opportunities to cross-train, develop, and advance their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrate leadership and mentoring capability, including succession planning for the Director position, with potential acting responsibilities.
• Provide engineering support and advice to the operations team for water and sewerage management.
• Conduct network planning modeling.
• Provide peer reviews, mentoring, and guidance to development engineers.
• Maintenance of water and sewerage assets in accordance with asset management plans.
• Provide overall engineering support and project management as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or similar related discipline.
• Comprehensive practical experience in water and sewerage operations and  planning.
• RPEQ or an ability to obtain.
• High-level written and verbal communication skills.
• A passion for the water and sewerage industry.
